How to Pair a Smart Device with TS Smart Home
Adding a new smart device to your TS Smart Home account is a straightforward process, but knowing exactly what to expect at each step makes the experience smooth and frustration-free. This guide walks you through the complete pairing process from unboxing your device to controlling it from your phone.
What Is Device Pairing?
Device pairing is the process of linking your physical smart hardware — a smart plug, smart switch, or any TS Smart Home-compatible device — to your account on the TS Smart Home cloud. Once paired, you can control the device remotely through the mobile app, set schedules, monitor its status, and receive push notifications.
Before You Begin
Make sure you have:
- The TS Smart Home app installed and you are logged in
- Your smart device unboxed and physically installed (plugged in or wired)
- Your Wi-Fi password ready (2.4 GHz network)
- Your phone connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the device to use
Important: Most TS Smart Home devices use the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band only. If your router broadcasts both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz under the same SSID, the device should still connect correctly. If you face issues, temporarily connect your phone to your 2.4 GHz network specifically.
Step 1: Power On the Device
Plug the smart plug into a power socket, or ensure the smart switch is wired and your breaker is on. The device will power on and the LED indicator will show a status light.
Step 2: Enter Pairing Mode
To enter pairing mode:
- Locate the physical button on the device
- Press and hold the button for 5 seconds
- The LED will begin blinking rapidly (approximately 2 blinks per second)
- This rapid blinking confirms the device is in pairing mode and ready to be discovered
If the LED does not blink after 5 seconds, the device may already be paired. Perform a factory reset by holding the button for 10 seconds until the LED blinks in a different pattern, then try again.
Step 3: Open the App and Tap Add Device
- Open the TS Smart Home app
- On the Home Dashboard, tap the "+" (Add Device) button in the top-right corner
- The app will begin scanning for nearby devices in pairing mode
- Your device should appear in the list within 10–30 seconds
Step 4: Select Your Device
When your device appears in the discovery list:
- Tap on the device name to select it
- The app may ask you to confirm the device type (smart plug, switch, etc.)
- Confirm and proceed to the Wi-Fi configuration step
Step 5: Enter Your Wi-Fi Credentials
The app will prompt you to enter your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password. This information is transmitted securely to the device so it can connect to your home network.
- Select your Wi-Fi network from the list or type it manually
- Enter your Wi-Fi password
- Tap "Connect"
The app will show a progress bar while the device connects to your Wi-Fi network and registers itself with the TS Smart Home cloud. This process typically takes 20–40 seconds.
Step 6: Name Your Device
Once the device is successfully connected:
- You will be prompted to enter a device name
- Choose a clear, descriptive name such as:
- "Living Room Lamp"
- "Bedroom AC"
- "Kitchen Kettle"
- "Office Monitor"
- Optionally, assign it to a room for easier organization
- Tap "Save"
Step 7: Confirm and Test
Your device will now appear on the Home Dashboard. To confirm everything is working:
- Tap the power icon on the device card
- Watch the LED on the physical device change state
- If the LED responds, your device is successfully paired and fully functional
Pairing Multiple Devices
You can pair as many devices as you need. Simply repeat the steps above for each new device. The TS Smart Home platform supports an unlimited number of devices per account, making it ideal for whole-home setups.
For efficiency, pair all devices in one session before naming and organizing them.
Common Pairing Problems and Solutions
Device Not Found During Scan
- Ensure the device LED is blinking rapidly (pairing mode active)
- Move your phone closer to the device
- Disable mobile data temporarily and rely on Wi-Fi only
Wi-Fi Connection Fails
- Double-check your Wi-Fi password for typos
- Ensure you are using a 2.4 GHz network
- Reboot your router and try again
Device Pairs but Shows Offline Immediately
- Move the device closer to the router
- Check if the router is blocking new devices (MAC filtering enabled)
- Restart the device by unplugging and replugging it
Device Keeps Dropping Out of Pairing Mode
- The pairing mode window may have timed out — re-enter pairing mode and complete the process faster
After Pairing: What to Do Next
Now that your device is paired, here are some recommended next steps:
- Set a schedule: Automate the device to turn on and off at specific times
- Enable notifications: Get alerted when the device goes offline
- Explore energy monitoring: View power consumption data if your device supports it
- Share access: Allow family members to control the device through their own accounts
Pairing your first device is the first step toward a smarter, more automated home. Each device you add gives you more control, more convenience, and more energy savings.
